Fast Times At Lakewood High Although academic achievement was the primary goal of Lakewood High School, there seemed to be some moments left for having a great time. Special occasions such as Hallo- ween and St. Patrick's Day lent themselves to bringing out Lancer originality. Costumes from the sublime to the ridi- culous were worn by staff and students alike. Sometimes it was just the need to act a little crazy and take the tension off of rowin up in a fast-paced society. The fast times proved to ie the fun times, and they will not soon be forgotten. 1. MONICA WALKER gas s in shock at KIM WOODWARD'S costume. 2. DR. SHICKLER kicks baclls for a moment to tell one of his great jokes. 3. BRIAN FARBER gets as wet as his car. 4. Fast times were apparently not hard times for IOHN BERGENDAHL. 5. IIM CLEARY and Sl-IELLY DROWN take a fast trip into the stratosphere. 6. LISA EDWARDS gets a helping hand with her CITADEL project. 7. CINDY MATHEWSON, SAN- DRA PAYTON, ROBIN PEAVY and CYNDEE WILDT celebrate Halloween by wearin imaginative costumes. 8. MRS. The Taste Of Success Success is not a giftg it is earned. Success is achieved only by effort, and even then it is not guaranteed. The LHS spirit is a dedication to success, to the pursuit of excellence. Making an A on a tough trig test, scoring the final goal in a soccer match, finding the impossible unknown in chem lab, meeting your best friend for lunch in the quad, having an undefeated football season, talking with an administra- tor about the future were all ingredients in a successful year. Success meant reaching deep inside and bringing out the best, whether it was an individual or group effort. In lI,984, the Lancers were successful and did bring out the est. 1. A jack-knife dive proves successful for IERRY FRIEDMAN. 2. MIKE REYES sells pretzels to IANET BEST and SABRINA PINDER during snack. 3. MRS. RIGARD admires the hot wheels that belong to VICTOR WILLIAMS and GREG OGLESBY. 4. IOSEPH PHEARS and DAVID RIMA perform an awesome high five. 5. MR. FLOOD, a senior counselor at last, el S PAULA KEMBALL and DEBBIE VICKERY prepare for the SAT. 6. Sailing over the high hurdles was KATHY IOI-INSON'S special forte. 7. PARTY CARVALHO, an outstanding soccer player, booms in for another goal. 8. MRS. HANSEN proudly presents medallion diplomas to two exceptional graduates, DAN DAVIS and HEATHER GILLILAND.
