They knew it in their hearts. and they felt no reason to conceal what should be obvious. Among the distinguished men of the class were ,lohn Anderson, Larry Smith, Harold Alldred, William Bell, Fred Guenther. and Calhoun Dickinson. all of whom won major letters. The class had its beginning in 1941. when Merritt Benson began the fifth grade. In 1942 he was joined by Fred Guenther and Dewey Metzdorf.
