f CHAILI. On March 15 and 16 Lakeside Thespian Troupe 2123 presented its annual play. This year's production, entitled The Madwoman of ChaiIlot, was an unusual play. Set in Paris, France in an area called Chail- lot, there is no established time period: in- stead, the time is described as being some- time next year. The Madwoman of Chail- lot is a light comedy, yet it has a deeper meaning. The central theme is good versus evil. The protagonist, the Madwoman, tries to destroy all wickedness during an after- noon tea in her cellar. Assorted vagabonds, servants, and other madwomen are deter- mined to help the Madwoman in her fight against crime by holding a court case which axterminates the criminals. The play ends on an endearing note as the Madwoman re- turns to her delightful existence of make- believe. The Madwoman of ChaiIlot is an unusual production, mainly due to the large cast of over fifty people. The production required weeks of dedicated practice and total coo- peration.
