J The purpose of French Club is to extend an understanding and appre- ciation of the French culture beyond the classroom. As part of the culture, students learn about French cooking, family life, and political beliefs. These customs are explained through programs including music, films, speakers, a trip to New Orleans, and having dinner at Le Mirabelle, and local French restaurant. French Club also participates annually in a state French-speaking contest and festival at UALR. Q The growing number of drama club Q members participated in such activi- ties as hosting Lakeside's speech tournament and producing a major play entitled The Madwoman of Chaillot. Within the Drama Club is a special - E organization, Lakeside's Thespian Troupe 2123. A thespian is a student who is interested in the dramatic and liberal arts.
