All this describes the atmosphere surrounding Lakeside during homecoming on November 4. The theme this year was Shoot for the Stars and the setting was truly out of this world. Revolving plan- ets, abstract string art on a midnight blue back- ground, and natural green plants bedecked the field house. .lim Roles acted as emcee announc- ing the royalty and escorts to the music, Ever- greenf' The Madrigals and speech students in- terpreted their feelings about shooting for the stars and reaching them. Golddusters, ma- jorettes, and flag girls set a sparkling mood with their talents The pep and energy came from the cheerleaders who added a bit of hu mor with a sk1t about the royalty The ceremo l 2- nies' were visited by some unexpected guests - a hairy beast known as Chewbacca, his menac- ing friend, Darth Vader, a lovable little adroid named R2D2, and the handsome, Luke. It was a memorable day that many people will never forget including the people behind the scenes. This year the Student Council was responsible for homecoming under Mrs. She- hane's supervision. The art department and many other students worked long hours to make homecoming day a special one for LHS. There was a parade, the ceremony that night and a dance sponsored by the student council featuring Wide Open. Homecoming '77 was excitement anticipation laughter thrill'
