V A I 71' QQ 1 was 1 , or I . , Q, wp'-5 lthough scholastics did play the most important role, sports played a considerable part in the stu- dents' lives. There was a boys' basketball team coached by Mr. Bill Simpson and a girls' team coached by Mrs. E.L. Terry. Although the basketball play- ers didn't have much opportuni- ty to practice fonly at lunch and during morning and afternoon breaksj they did win a number of games. At that time, Cutter Morning Star was Lakeside's greatest rival. Both boys' and girls' teams had an endless supply of spirit and sportsmanship. Before each game, the players would gather and join in prayer and a pep talk was heard from Coach Simpson. A sense of comradeship existed between the players. They played the game together as a group rather than as individ- uals. They gave it all they had and in essence started the phrase, Rams never quit!
