I OAN OF ARC! What did she do? She served and saved her country but she had nothing on our gals--loyal members oi the Senior Service group. They, too, have given their liie's blood in the service of Lake View. In the service oi a king? Nay. They are not vassals of any nobleman. They help and advise the members oi a great dem- ocracy-a democracy within a democ- racy-Lake View High School. Webster's dictionary doesn't give us words ade- quate enough to express our appreciation oi the services they render. Shall we write another lexicon or can you form your own adiectives? We'11 set you oft with a good start-how about marvelous, ter- rific, super-colossal! Tame? Well you're on your own: choose your own epithets. Those featured in the pictures are: Group l-Row 2: G. TUNE-SMITHS USIC! Heavenly music! In our imagination we see a stage. A world-renowned conductor leading a large symphonic orchestra. This body of musicians ren- ders cantatas and symphonies with delightful techn.que. ln our minds' eye we seem to ses a celebrated musical organization. But we wriggle from our drowsiness and look again and what do we seeea noteworthy con- ductor, yes, our own Mr. Sopkin, and not famous musi- cians but our own orchestra. We are bursting with pride to be able to say that this orchestra is ours, that it carries the name of Lake View. lts members are loyal Lake Viewites who play not for glory but for the love of music and their school. They have spent many hours in the orchestra room developing matchless technique that displays the caliber of Lake View. In the past years, the orchestra has made many ap- pearances which include the Concert, the Spring Festival, and the Annual City-Wide Contest at which it received a rating comparable to its abiity. The cello section was a distinguishing factor in the successful appearances ot the orchestra. lt was especially honored by being invited to play for the Music Supervisors' Banquet and at Roose- velt High School, where it won fame. Much of the success of Lake View's prominent orchestra is due to the untiring efforts of our inspiring conductor. Mr. Sopkin. Under his guidance innumerable students, supposedly lacking musical tendency, were transformed into enthusiastic and skillful musicians. Many of the members of our orchestra make practical use of their musical education by playing at dances and festivals. Surely the fact that they do this serves as proof of the meritorious skill of the members of our orchestra. But "time flies" and we must fly with it. Although we are sad to leave the music-filled air of the orchestra room, adventure is awaiting us. ORCHESTRA FIRST VIOLINS SECOND VIOLINS N. Almond F. Anderson E. Aguiliv M. Benoit D. Fanucchi G.
