On the morning of February 19, bright and early the senior class ven- tured on their yearly senior trip. This year they planned to go to Pierre and tour the capitol, visit some committee meetings, and have lunch with Governor Bill Janklow. They also planned to visit the Oahe Dam where they would have a tour. With the Lester Wienk car in the lead the 86’ers made it to Pierre fifteen minutes late for their tour of the capitol. So that meant the sen- iors were on their own. Some ven- tured towards the committee room, while other played cards in the bal- cony of the Senate. Before the class met with the Governor they gathered for a class picture on the marble steps. After a long morning of fun and games the class sat down with the Governor for lunch. In the conference room the group talked with the Governor and he brought his old picture of us as sixth graders. After lunch they headed out to the Oahe Dam for the tour. After that they drove back to the capitol to attend more sessions. At the days end the group had to decide to leave Pierre or to rent a room in some hotel. Because of the bad weather conditions they were uncertain whether they could make it home. After getting gassed up and settled in the cars, they started for home. The Longville car was way ahead of the rest but with Mr. Djonne’s skilled driving he plowed a path for the rest with the old school car. Mr. Djonne was accompanied with his wife Beth and new son Garret, also in the car were Eldred and Shirley Carlson. The next car was chaperoned by Verla Gutzmer and the last car was driven by Lester Wienk accompanied by his wife Betty. Despite the weather condi- tions the caravan made it back to old Lake Preston. Even though the ride home was long everyone had a good time. It’s a day the senior class will never forget. Senior Trip 17

Memories Below: Jana Iverson practices her part as Kari Anderson gets initiated her freshman Snoopy in a play her sophomore year. year. The 1985-86 school year was the last year that the class of ’86 would be together. They have spent the past 4 years as stu- dents in LPHS. The Prestonian staff hopes that those four years were filled with many happy memories. We also wish the class of ’86 the best of luck in the fu- ture. GOOD LUCK!
