This year’s basketball squad showed more improve- ment from last year, and showed their experience as the year went on. Leading the Divers in scoring were Robin Marken, Jody Wienk and Cheri Janssen. Jody Wienk and Dian Menzel were selected to the All-Conference Team. The girls had many good times during the season which they will always remember like saying prayers in the locker room and countdowns before each game. A garter was awarded to a different player each day for improve- ment and hustle during games and in practice. Four seniors - Robin Marken, Dian Menzel, Dawnette Hovde, and Marily Ellingson - contributed much to the program during their high school careers, and have shared much of the joy of winning and the agony of defeat that makes sports memorable. The Divers season ended with a disappointing loss to a fired up Oldham squad in the district tournament at Arlington. 25

This years football players re- ceived alot of experience that will be beneficial in the upcoming years. The number of players be- came a problem towards the end of the season due to injuries. On the injured list were sophomore Greg Hesby, whose quarterback position was replaced by Todd Steven who came up from the backfield. Also, runningback Da- vid Anderson broke a finger in the Homecoming game and Scott Tol- zin received an injured knee in the later part of the season. Since six gridders are graduating this year the team may find it nec- essary to depend on incoming freshman to cut down on the shortness of man power. Top: Now what was the count on? Middle left: Dog Pile! Middle Right: “Go for it. Bottom: Do the hustle! Cheerleaders: Bottom to Top: Holly Casper, Cheri Janssen, Linda Jensen, Mary Jensen. 27
