AN EVENT AT FORDS THEATRE Narrator Mrs. Montchessington A gusta Asa Trenchard Student Director Bill Paterson Diane Wolkow Gail Swenson Jim Olson Cathy Kazmerzak In the play, An Event at Fords Theatre Abraham Lincoln was assasinated by John Wilkes Booth on April 14tli at Fords Theatre, Washington D. C. He was attending the play, Our American Cousin when a bullet pierced his head and resulted in death. The Narrator describes the events surrounding the Presidents presence at the theatre and briefly introduces us to a short section of the Second Act before Mr. Lincoln falls from his chair unconscious from a bullet wound. Sophomore float won first prize in the contest between class floats in the rainy afternoon parade. Divers vs. Bulldogs on Homecoming Day Senior attendants: Kathy Smith, Steve Steffenson, Jean Vedvei, Mark Baumberger, Renita Thomsen, Guy Olson, Barb Birath, and Dan Laabs. First Graders; Bonnie Ellingson and Ricky Holland. Seniors tear off Comic strip paper from float. Another year of memories take their place in our minds. No one ever forgets the time, effort, and excitement packed all to- gether in one small week during Homecoming. Theme for this year was Comic Strips. All classes constructed floats from horse trailers and old flat beds. Coronation has always been one of the special events during the hectic week. Following coronation was the traditional pep rally and burning of the D . A watermelon bust was sponsored by the FFA afterwards. On the final day rainy weather couldn't hold down the spirit and excitement for the parade and oncom- ing game. Although the DeSmet bulldogs received a victory from us, everybody managed to have a good time!
