This proved to be a very successful year for the student council having accomplished the goal of a lounge after years of compromises. One of their monthly duties was to choose a hard- working student as Student of the Month. Many hours were also devoted to revising the handbook. Consisting of several tables, couches, chairs and a pop machine for refreshments, the lounge provided an excel- lent place for the students to relax and converse.

3eclam Students Visit University in Vermillion Members of declam worked hard this past year to achieve high honors. They attended a workshop at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion on Octo- ber 23. The purpose was to meet with professors and receive suggested im- provements on each selection. These selections were then presented on Octo- ber 26 at the declam contest in Arling- ton. Dianne Wolkow received an excel- lent in dramatics; Dean Cecil, good in poetry; Kathy Kazmerzak, excellent in humorous; Cammy Iseminger, excellent in oratory.
