A Band presents two concerts In November the A band presented the annual Pops Concert. Some selections from the concert were Downtown , Clarinets Allegro , Music Man , Bub- bling Woodwinds , and Born Free . The audience was served pie and coffee while listening to the music. The B band also played at the Pops Concert. The Spring Concert was presented on April 16, 1969. The A band played Danzon , Zorba the Greek , La Grazza Ladra , La Bamba De Vera Cruz and others. Marching band creates festive mood The band initiated their 1968-69 marching career at LPHS's Blue and Gold Day parade. During the half of the homecoming game, they presented a short maneuver rou- tine to the songs El Capitan and Burst of Trumpets . The band went to Arlington to participate in their homecoming parade and were served free buffalo burgers following the parade. Invitations were received from Dakota Wesley- an, General Beadle,Huron College, Northern State College, and South Dakota State University to march in their homecoming parades, but the band was able to attend only SDSU's Hobo Day activities. The marching band's final performance for the year was the Memorial Day parade. Rhonda Sneesby was drum majorette for the marching band. She led them in all of their parades. 27

Mr. George Runyan started teaching at LPHS at the beginning of the school year. He teaches A and B bands. These bands presented concerts throughout the school year. His time is kept busy by giving lessons. This summer Mr. Runyan will continue giving les- sons and will conduct three summer concerts. 29
