And The Band Mr. Edward Hensen began band instruction in the summer of 1967 as his first full-time teach- ing job. Ninety enthusiastic students took in- strumental lessons during the last six weeks of the summer. Under the direction of Mr. Hensen, the A band produced three summer concerts. As the school year started, Mr. Hensen guided approximately 110 students toward greater musi- cal ability. His day extended before and after school hours as he taught the A, B, C, and stage bands. He spent many hours writing and directing a precision drill routine which led the marching band to fame. Mr. Hensen brought jazz to the school by starting the stage band. He directed several concerts during the year. The last con- sisting of the A band, B band, and stage band. As the '68 school year drew to a close, Mr. Hensen directed a concert and the marching band in the Memorial Day parade. Left to right.
