SECOND ROW: Jean Nelson, Jean The band gave three concerts during the school year. The concerts included the Pops Concert in the fall, a mid- cinter concert in January, and the Spring Concert in April. Also in April, the band received a superior rat- ing at the music contest in Brookings. For the contest, Marching Band The band marched in homecoming parades in Lake Preston, Huron, and Brookings. They recieved third in the marching band competition in Huron on Pow Wow Day. The band also marched on Memorial Day. 28

The soloists pictured below competed in the Region III Music Contest in Watertown on February 22, 19o7. There they were Judged and given criticisms on their performance. During the school year these students have been taking vocal lessons from Miss Scott. Several of them have been part of the entertainment at various community functions. Most of the members took private lessons from either their direc- tor, Mr. Doug Almond, or the B Band director, Mr. Jeff Childs. Pep Band The pep band led the pep rallies before each football and basketball game and provided music for the home games. They also played for two games of the East Central Conference Tournaments held at Lake Preston. 29
