RATING: Good MIXED OCTET BACK: Ray Olson, Curtis Smith, Dennis Nelson. FRONT: Barbara Andersen, Susan Shaw, Karen Johnshoy, Sandra Danielson. These groups gained valuable experience at the Region III Small Groups Music Contest in Watertown, February 9, 1966. Ratings received were I-superior, II-excellent, Ill-good. Both the French horn quartet and flute duet were recommended for the evening Grand Concert. The ensembles also provided music for community functions. The mixed octet, composed of All-State Chorus members and their alternates, did not uerform at contest but sang at the Christmas concert and graduation. The two piano soloists entered the piano contest held at the large groups music contest in Brookings, April 16. Soloists gained personal satisfaction from expressing themselves inmusic.
