Themes and tests over Majorettes These majorettes performed with the band in homecoming parades in Lake Preston,DeSmet,and Aberdeen. Most members played in the pep band outside reading were added to the band schedule. Officers and Librarians STANDING: Carol Nielsen (president), Julianne Larsen (vice-president). SEATED: Karen Johns- hoy (librarian), Maureen Warren (assistant librarian). Carol as president led the band organization. Julianne was the chairman of the music float which won most beautiful. The li- brarians worked to stamp, catalog, and file band music. They supervised the music library.

At the close of each day, sixty-three female voices were raised in song. This group alternated rehearsal periods with the mixed chorus. The girls, under the direction of Mr. John Hester, received an excellent rating at the music contest in Brookings for their singing of Where'er You Walk and America the Beautiful . They also appeared at a PTA program, Christmas program, and the annual Spring Concert. All-State Band Rarer Johnshoy and Julianne Larsen were selected in state-wide auditions to play flute and French horn, respectively, in the 170-piece All-State Band under the direction of Lt. Col. W. Santelmann. This was their second year of membership in the band. It was held in Pierre, March 25-26, 1966.
