asdflkj—The Typing Classes made great progress from the first day that they stumbled through these simple letters. Speed tests, problems and form letters kept us occupied during the year. Karen Svihel and Marguerite Krijger represented us at the ECC Commercial Contest. The Home Economics girls sewed suits, skirts, and dresses. When they turned to cooking, mouth- watering odors emitted from the Home Ec room, much to the annoyance of the student body, especially when the smell was onions! The Home Ec III Class held a Tea for the Junior Mothers, while the Home Ec II girls served a Buffet Luncheon for their special guests. The highlight of their year was the Dior Fashion Parade they presented for the May PTA Meeting. This show, with authentic sets, music, and long white aisles was completed by pretty girls, all decked out in the beautiful clothes that they had made. The English I Class worked hard on grammar and literature. The sophomores sweated through Silas Marner and Julius Caesar. English HI and IV were kept occupied most of the year by term papers. The juniors enjoyed their new American Literature books while the seniors enjoyed their new English Literature books and Macbeth and the English poets. The Sociology Class dug deep into the problems of our society and cultural and environmental influences. Special emphasis was placed on the causes and suggested cures for juvenile deliquency. At the end of the term the class wrote term papers having to do with some kind of social problem that was especially interesting to the student. 21
