That week there was an atmosphere of excite- ment for all at Lake Park High. We were cool dudes on Monday, bizarre punks on Tuesday, we dressed as opposites on Wednes- day, grubbed out on Thursday, and we ended our week with, of course, blue and white day. The parade also turned out to be a big success with a variety of colorful floats, The highlight of the week was Coronation with King Troy crowning Queen Carmen. Congratulations to our Royalty and to our victorious football team with their 31-O win over Ulenbl-litterdahl. Their first ctivity was serving for the Arts Council pro- uction of A Thurber Carnival. Next, the rama Club students assisted Dan West in is direction and production of Sigrid, the truggle of one woman's desperate oneliness on the prairie. At the Student ouncil-sponsored Christmas party, the rama Club presented a skit, Barrel of onkeys. Chandra Hanke directed the umorous players: T. Jay Schauer, Heidi ahlgren, Dan West, Kim Holloway, Andrea ommerdahl. The Drama Club's most important effort of the year was entered in the District One- Act Play competition. Five vignettes of Neil Simon's, The Good Doctor were rehearsed, including The Sneeze, The Audition, and The Writer. The two selections that went on to Perham for the District contest were The Governess and The Poor Defenseless Creature. Even though the One Act Play cast did not capture the District 23 title this year, the comments from the judges were encourag- ing. Watch out District 23 in 1985! Lake Park School has a fairly new organization, which is attracting much atten- tion. lt is Science Fair which is headed by Mr. Wichman. Science Fair is open to students in all grades in the high school. Much hard work and dedication goes into being a Science Fair participant. A Science Fair stu- dent has about two meetings weekly, but works a lot on his own. A student may com- plete his f her project on anything which is Science-related. For example, Ron Siberg is working on the Hawthorne effect in relation to computer games, Melody Wallace is comparing weathering of shoreline settlements of area lakes, Donny Jacobs is looking at the effects of low amperage high voltage electric cur- rent on the growth of bean seedlings, Elizabeth Holen is looking at the use of com- puters as authority figures, and Robert Jacobs is studying the effect of flouride ions on the growth of radish seedlings. Returning this year is Darryn Wallace, working on im- proving his 1983 project of recycling used oil. This project won many awards at State last year. The participants learn government by living it in mythical cities, counties, and state. Robert Jacobs and Steve Larson attended Boys' State on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus. Jane Herfindahl was the Lake Park representative to Girls' State, which was held at St. Catherine's College. From June 13th- 17th, these Lake Park students participated in forming their own Boys' and Girls' State governments. The valuable experiences and memories gained in this week will last a lifetime. The Parkers earned a berth in the Nine-Man Division play-offs. Coaches Levin, Teiken, and Michaelson directed the outstanding team by coaching them to a regular season record of 6-2. The Underwood game proved to be the Conference highlight with Lake Park taking the lead in the Agassiz Valley South Conference. The following week, Lake Park clinched the title by beating our arch-rival, the Audubon Zephyrs. The team traveled to Hill City to take on their Hornets, but lost in a brilliant effort. Captains Robert Jacobs and Troy Olson aided the team tremendously with their outstanding play throughout the season. The season ended on a high note as Robert Jacobs, Troy Olson, and Scott Monson were named to the All4Conference team, wt5tu 61 JUNIOR HIGH FOGTBALL 1 Row One: S. Huesman, T. Holen, C. Lofgren, T.
