Senior Class President Tim Minor crowns Kay, Miss Merry Christinas of 1961. Moonlight and Mistletoe Miss Merry Christmas, Kay Koenig, and Princesses Patsy Brown and Cordula Diemer ruled over this year's Christmas formal, Moonlight and Mistletoe. Members of Girl's League, under the direction of Chairman Janie Jensen, transformed L.O. 's cafetorium into a winter wonderland” with trees, evergreen, a moon, and silhouetted animals for the occasion, which served as a gala climax for several weeks of canned food collecting. Senior Class President Tim Minor M.C. 'd the dance with the assistance of a 1961 alum, Joe Potter. The two of them traded jokes and led the crowd in singing Christmas carols. Can Drive Successful This year at Christmas time, Lakers collected a grand total of 20,000 cans of food for the Tri-City Rainbow Division another new record! In spite of a slow start and very bad weather during the closing days of the drive, L. O. 's student body managed to fulfill adviser Miss Murty's highest expectations. The Junior class won the can competition hand hands down with 8,000 cans, so their class princess, Kay Koeing, was crowned Miss Merry Christmas. The senior and sophomore classes, second and thrid respectively, made a close finish with approximately 6,000 cans each. Everyone helps. Craig counts. Sophs work hard. Chairman presents food to Oswego police.
