Lakers Abroad Seniors Mike Goodrich and Robyn Partridge both represented L.O.H.S. in foreign countries this year--Mike in Sweden and Robyn in Norway. Mike spent the summer in Sweden with the Stig Hakanson family and had two A.F.S. brothers. He lived 24 miles from Stockholm and enjoyed swimming, fishing, dancing, sightseeing, yachting and hiking. Mike also had the opportunity to speak over Radio Free Europe. Robyn stayed in Norway for not only the summer but also the first half of the school year. After several weeks, Robyn became a member of the Rosenberg family and enjoyed her four sisters very much. She attended a Norwegian school, where she took French, biology, Norsk language and Norsk history. Lakers are very proud of Robyn and Mike for the way they represented L.O.H.S.

Lakers Come From Many Lands This year L.O.H.S. was one of the very few schools (if not the only one) in the country to have three American Field Service students. Helena Idiart from Uruguay, South America, loves to play the piano and attends ball games with enthusiasm. Her quiet sincerity has won her many friends. Adrian Dawson has charmed the Lakers with his strong English accent, good speaking ability, and wonderful sense of humor. Mohammad Zareh, after arriving from Iran later than expected, adjusted easily to student life at L.O.H.S. Mo's friendly smile won him the honor of being Emperor of the annual Turnabout. Not only did L.O.H.S. host three A.F.S. students, but two other Lakers came from abroad--both sophomore girls. Sonia Steck from Panama came to spend the year in Lake Oswego as a sister of sophomore Yolanda Parker. With her sweet smile, Sonia has become well-liked by the Lakers. Cordula Diemer came back from Germany with an aunt and uncle to attend school in Lake Oswego. Her popularity is evident as her classmates chose her for their Miss Merry Christmas princess. Hosting these five foreign students was both a privilege and a very great opportunity for L.O. 's student body--an opportunity to share Laker hospitality and friendships and an opportunity to learn about foreign nations and peoples first-hand. Cordy is crowned princess. Sonia and Yoli enjoy a joke.
