L.O.H.S.'s Senate is the unique legislative body that set student body standards, debated student problems, and ruled on important issues throughout 1961-1962. Breaking with last year's first-period precedent, the Senators were elected through their English classes this year so that each Senate room would contain members of only one class. Foreign students, class presidents, and publications editors sat in on meetings as honorary Senators. Student Body President Bill Bowling presided over Senate meetings with the able assistance of the other members of the Cabinet and the guidance of Mr. Don Kieling, Director of Student Affairs.
