DEDICATION In his ten memorable years of service at LOHS, Mr. Roy Hadley, science teacher par excellence, has been held in the highest esteem by administrators, fellow teachers, and students. A warm and genial personality, a keen intellect, and an innate talent for teaching are combined superbly in this charter member ofLO's faculty. The air in his classroom is so charged with enth usi as m and interest that would-be scientists find themselves putting forth their utmost ability to learn. Mr. Hadley teaches us to think, is a comment frequently made by them. However, his approach is not strictly academic. Loud laughter often emanates from the lab as an experiment goes amiss or the instructor injects some bit of humor into the proceedings. Lakers who have graduated from his instruction find themselves well equipped for college in the area of science, and they are deeply appreciative of the stimulating experience they have enjoyed. To express this appreciation, the yearbook staff, with sincere pleasure, dedicates this 1961 Lakers’ Log to Mr. Roy Hadley.

FOREWORD Lake Oswego High School marks the end of a decade midst the mammoths of the mechanical age. They push and shove, changing the landscape to make way for the future. The dream of yesterday is nearing the reality of today. Through the maze of machinery, we glimpse the scaffolding and framework that will be new classrooms, science laboratories, the language laboratory, gymnasium, cafe -torium, and library. Noise and confusion. Squeaking cranes and rumbling trucks. The excited clatter of the jack-hammer. Tremors that shake the building. Rain and mud, everywhere seas of mud. 1960-61 has been a hectic and happy year--always wonderful. MUD + MACHINES = MODERNIZATION. 4
