Among the many activities of their sophomore year, winning the May-Fete was the most outstanding. These Lakers started their junior year by planting rhododendrons. Hard work was the secret to their winning the Canned Food Drive, the Paper Drive, May-Fete, and the Best Class Award. Highlight of their senior year was the annual spaghetti dinner, the most successful in the history of the school. They were also privileged to be the only class in Oregon to have three A. F. S. students visiting them. Talented as individuals and displaying unusual originality, members of the Senior class have worked closely and harmoniously in the group projects they have undertaken. As they take up their anchors and set sails for new shores, L. O.'s 1961 graduates will always treasure their memories of Lake Oswego High School. 18

AFS Lake Oswego was proud to receive its delightful American Field Service exchange student, Myriam Correa from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. With her warm personality and ability to make friends easily, she immediately took her place among the Lakers' crew. Myriam participated in many clubs, activities, and attended all Laker games enthusiastically. It is with regret the senior class bids Myriam Hasta la vista, hoping to soon meet again. Annick Bachet, American Field Service exchange student from France was one of three students attending Lake Oswego. She was able to adapt herself readily to the life of an American school girl. She participated in after school activities, student government, and Laker games. Her friendliness was rewarded during the Christmas season when she was elected a Miss Merry Christmas Princess. She will always be remembered by the students at Lake Oswego because of her friendliness and cooperation with her fellow students. A new addition to the Lake Oswego student body last fall was Michael Marx, American Field Service exchange student from Bramsche, Germany. Mike participated in many activities some of which were clubs, assemblies, and sports, where he made his varsity letter in football. The students showed their admiration for Mike when they elected him as a prince of Emerald Isle. Mike, with his intriguing personality and good sense of humor will long be remembered at Lake Oswego. 19
