Mr. Charles Bowles DURING THIS PAST SCHOOL YEAR Mr. Charles Bowles has served Lake Oswego high school as a chemistry and algebra teach- er, a cross country and track team coach, and as a senior and junior class counselor. THE TIRELESS DEDICATION OF MR. BOWLES to our high school can be seen daily in his teaching and coaching but it was most clearly exemplified in his work on the new football and track field. Mr. Bowles devoted many of his summer hours-totaling more than three hundred-so that the entire Oswego community and the students of Lake Oswego would have a field of which they could be proud, and so that the Lake Oswego athletes would have better conditions for practice and play. IT IS WITH GREAT PRIDE AND ADMIRATION that the 1958 Lakers' Log -staff dedicates this annual to Mr. Charles Bowles- instructor, coach, counselor, and friend. Dedication

In modern times, however, it is regarded as no great journey but a relatively common event. . SOME OF US MAY MAKE THE FABLED TRIP Around the World during our lifetime, most of us will not. But as each day goes by, each and every one of us takes a trip around a world - our own world that We know so well. OUR PRIVATE WORLDS ARE AS VARIED AS WE ARE, no two exactly alike. And yet, they all have one thing in common. For a period of time, Lake Oswego high school, its faculty and its student body, has influenced our existance. WHEREVER WE FIND OURSELVES IN YEARS TO COME, whatever we may do, L.O.H.S. will have played a part in our achievements. All of us will be bound together by the invisible ties of our high school.

They Administer our School District Mr. Lawrence D. Fish, Superintendent IN 1958 THE LAKE OSWEGO SCHOOL BOARD has been very busy with the many and divers problems which face a growing school district. Under the very capable leadership of Dr. George Lyman, the School Board has done an excellent job in solving or alleviating these problems. ONE OF THE BIGGEST ANNUAL JOBS of the School Board is the formation of district's policy and the construction of a workable budget for the year. Working with a specially formed citizens' committee, the board planned the expansion pro- gram for the area through 1960. Immediate plans call for the building of an elementary school in the Palisades area, the completion of Lake Oswego junior high school, and the addition of expanded shop facilities to the high school. Board of Directors Mr. Lawrence Perkins, Asst. Superintendent MR. LAWRENCE D. FISH is an man with a great deal of experience qualifying him-for his appoint- ment as Superintendentthis past year. His previ- ous experience in the Oswego school system con- sisted of being Director of Curriculum since 1955. He received his Bachelor's Degree at Bethany Peniel College, and his Master's Degree at UCLA. He is now working for his Ph.D. at Washington State College. He is present at all School Board meetings and attends to the multitude of details that are essential for the functioning of a rapidly growing school district such as ours. MR. LAWRENCE PERKINS, formerly the popu- lar principal of Lake Grove elementary school, now offers his assistance in carrying out the re- sponsibilities placed before Mr. Fish. Mr. Perkins graduated from the Eastern Washington College of Education and received his Master's Degree from the Oregon College of Education.
