Shorthand has more attraction for girls, but the other commercial subjects, taught by Mrs. Orem, appeal to both sexes. Art and handicraft displays give evidence of considerable talent among the students under the direction of Mr. Nastasia, Whereas Miss Popple's p.e. and tennis team members exhibit a somewhat different type of manual dexterity. The reading of good books, the writing of readable composi- tions, and the intelligent discussion of current events require comprehension and imagination rather than manual skill. Di- rection in these areas is handled by Mrs, Myers, Mrs. Peetz, and Mr. Paul.
