Miss Barbara Lum, Dean of girls Dean's office, Miss Lum speak- ing. lt's amazing how much patience they have, these administrative assistants. No matter how busy, they'll always lend a sympathetic ear whenever a student seeks help in personal or co-curricular mat- ters, and they invariably come forth with a wise and logical solu- tion. Besides directing girls' affairs, Miss Lum teaches English and physiology, a new course, and coaches girls' swimming, as well as boys' tennis. Mr. Pizza is the coach ot the boys' swimming team in addition to being supervisor ot co-curricular affairs and teacher of math and science. .gtk A ,urQ,, ..-I' .A X Mr. Dick Pizzo, Director of clubs and activities 'iI've scheduled it here on the weekly calendar. Mrs Bonita Myers: Library Sorry. That book is overdue. Mrs Dorothy Peetz: Core What is the simple subject? Z 4 Mr. Iames Nastasia: Art 'lThis is an abstract interpreta tion. With cr Genuine Interest in Subjects They Home economics is offered at LOHS to boys as well as girls and the skill and enthusiasm of both groups is most gratifying to their instructor, Mrs. Perkins. Shorthand has more attraction for girls, but the other commercial subjects, taught by Mrs. Orem, appeal to both sexes. Art and handicraft displays give evidence of considerable talent among the students under the direction of Mr. Nastasia, Whereas Miss Popple's p.e. and tennis team members exhibit a somewhat different type of manual dexterity. The reading of good books, the writing of readable composi- tions, and the intelligent discussion of current events require comprehension and imagination rather than manual skill. Di- rection in these areas is handled by Mrs, Myers, Mrs. Peetz, and Mr. Paul. Mr. Donald Paul: Core Yes, l've been there too Mrs. Evelyn Perkins: Home Eco- ,, nomics Let's adjust the pattern a little. Q ' if
