If you happened to like model railroads, we had a Model Railroad Club. It’s purpose was to build and run a large scale model railroad. Our Archeology Club got together to learn what archeo¬ logy is all about, to explore its history, and find out how archeologists do their jobs. We had a Forensics Club; FTA, (Future Teachers of America), and an FHA (Future Homemakers of America). If you were not a part of the many clubs and organiza¬ tions, you could form a group of your own. Our student government was formed to represent the student body in all areas of activity. They sponsored sock-hops, the selection of our school seal, fall-festival week, and dances, a magazine drive, and a project for Childrens’ Hospital. Carolynne McDaniel shows one of the ever-present workmen how to drill a hole for the door handle. David Damico says, “Geronimo,” as he jumps from the rear of his bus during a fire drill one rainy morning. Mr. Cabiotti looks on. Sharon Riese in German class. 212 student life Julie Farino breaking things in home economics class.

By mid-year, our helter-skelter daily activities had devel¬ oped into comfortable patterns. We, the students at Lake Braddock, will be the first four classes to graduate from our new school. We are many different people, with many varying opini( ns on how a school should work. Karen Davis and Diane Miller making foot-prints in the flour. Phyllis O’Neill and Andrea Lehman do skits in foreign language as Laura Dougherty looks on. We felt responsibility dropped in our laps. Most of us had found ourselves in a totally new and challenging environ¬ ment. So we grouped together to overcome the roles and conflicts imposed upon us. This formed a strong bond between teachers and students alike, helping one an¬ other to form a system of unity. At the beginning of the year, we dove head first into a pool of new ideas, theo¬ ries and systems without a clear sense of direction—and we made it. We certainly are new and unique. We are the Bruins. Carl Beveridge and Jim Stone. student life 213 Contractor for school construction was Glen Construction Company, who had 20 sub-contractors.
