Girls ' Gymnastics A new school and a new team makes for lots of hard work. Of course there have been problems, but nothing insurmountable. I’m sure that when we started, the lack of equipment was a big obstacle. For months our balance beam consisted of the bleachers and or lines on the gym floor. On the other hand, the equipment was worth waiting for due to the fact that it is top notch. Unfortunately, gymnastics skills are not developed overnight or in a year or two. Our ninth and tenth graders have to compete on a Varsity level which makes it rough on them. Our goals, however, are to develop young women with a sense of pride and self-confidence, and this we are accomplishing. I’m glad I can be a part of what some day will be called Lake Braddock Tradition. Coach Barbara Morris Girls’ Basketball I am very impressed with the Lake Braddock intramural program; the fan¬ tastic variety of activities, the opportunites for boys and girls, equal time participation in everything, including the weight room, and the overwhelming participation of the students. The girls on the basketball, track and hockey teams are in excellent physical condition. Their leadership, cooperation, re¬ spect for each other, sportsmanship, team and school pride, and teamwork are highly developed qualities for this age group, and they indicate we will have future teams Lake Braddock can be proud of. I am very proud to be coaching these teams—honestly. Coach Diane Raynes Boys’ Basketball I have been very happy with our basketball team so far. We have tried to build a program with a good sound foundation. The players have been asked to do things that are completely new to them, and I’m very well pleased with the way they have responded. Starting a new program is about what I thought it would be. I helped start a program at Edison High II years ago. One of the problems is finding boys who are willing to work hard enough to become outstanding players. Our goals, of course like any team, include a state championship for the 75-76 season. However, our most important goal is always to develop young men that all individuals from the Lake Braddock area can be proud of. If we can develop outstanding young men. all other goals will be secondary. Coach Carl Hensley sports 139
