Several radio broadcasts were made. During the Christmas season the choir presented The Singing Christmas Tree. On Christmas morning the group went caroling. The Spring Sing, an event originated by lVlr, Johnson, was presented in Par- sons for the first time this year. All junior Colleges in this area were invited. The guest conductor was Dr. Orville J. Charles Carrier and Richard Bachus joi Coach Wallace Swanson's Cardinal cagers broke even in conference play this year, defeating Chanute and Iola twice, splitting with Independence, and los- ing twice to Fort Scott and-Cotfeyville. This earned the Cardinals a third place tie in league standings with the Independence Pirates. Bill Mawhiney was the scoring ace at the Card- inals. He scored 37 points against Independence in a neil the squad during the latter part of the season, game here and dropped in 35 points against Iola at lola. In the invitation tournament at Independence during the Christmas vacation, the Cardinals placed seventh by beating lola. Mawhiney was selected tor the all-tournament team, and H. R.
