The La Sierra High School Corps is one of many such units in the State of California. The La Sierra Battalion, which is designated as the 31st, is commanded by Cadet Captain Harry M. Bishop. The Corps many objectives are: To develop qualities of leadership; To assist the school in educating youth for good citizenship; To provide a basic military knowl- edge for the cadets; and to encourage all cadets to de- velop a standard of all-round good scholarship. These are developed during the four-year program. The ca- dets also participate in activities such as: drill competi- tion, rifle team meets, basic and advanced leadership school, and annual bivouac.
