Commander Thomas D. Holman United States Navy Commander Holman was born in Russellville, Arkansas on 8 June 1955. He graduated from Frank W. Cox High School in Virginia Beach, VA and attended the United States Naval Acacdemy, graduating in 1978 with a BS in Oceanograpy. - His first tour of duty was in USS TACOMA CPG-92D, Commander Holman trained Royal Saudi Naval per- sonnel as part of the Saudi Naval Expansion Program. In 1981 he split-toured to the USS HARRY E.- YARNELL CCG-175 serving as Missile Officer and later the DCA. ' He next received orders to COMMANDER, SPECIAL BOAT UNIT TWENTY in Little Creek, Vir- ginia, reporting aboard in 1983, serving as Weapons Officer, Operations Officer, and OIC of the 35' SEAFOX and 65' MKIII Patrol Boat Detachments. An additional temporary tour of duty was served in Security Assis- tance as Chief Naval Trainer, TRI-SERVICE TRAINING ASSISTANCE TEAM CTSTATD, Office of Military Cooperation COMCD Mogadishu, Somalia. He is a qualified Riverine Warfare Officer. V His next tour was an isolated, arduous, overseas tour in USNS HARKNESS CTAGS-325, reporting aboard in 1984 as Executive Officer of OCEANOGRAPHIC UNIT FIVE, a Naval Oceanographic Command permanently assigned in HARKNESS, USNS HARKNESS was one of the Navy's first ships to have both military and civilian women serving at sea. He is a coded unrestricted Line Geophysics Officer. In July of 1986, Commander Holman graduated from the Surface Warfare Officers School Depart- ment Head Course, graduating - with honors. In October 1986, he re- ported to the USS HARLAN COUNTY CLST-11965 as Engineering Officer. In 1988, he was detached from HARLAN COUNTY and re- ported to the RECOMMISSION- ING UNIT WISCONSIN CBB-645 as prospective MPA. Commander Holman served as the MPA in the Battleship USS WISCONSIN from recommissioning in October 1988 to Decemberlof 1989. He is a proven Sub-specialist in Naval!Me- chanical Engineering. C - .His next tour of duty was ashore with the staff of COM- MANDER OPERATIONAL TEST AND EVALUATION FORCE as the Operation Test Director in the Undersea Warfare Division for Mine Countermeasures CMCMJ and other CN O acquisition related pro- grams. He is a member of the Ac- quisition Work Force CAWFD. In 1991, Commander , Holman reported to Uss LA MOURE COUNTY CLST-11945 as Execu- tive Officer. He detached from LA MOURE COUNTY in 1993 having completed two deployments during his tour. For his second assignment ashore, he was ordered in June 1993 to the Bureau of Naval Personnel CBUPERSD, Washington, DC, for duty as tlie Surface Material Placement Officer. Commander Holman's decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, four Navy Commendation Medals, four Navy Achievement Medals plus various Unit and Service Awards.
