THOMAS D USN Lieutenant Commander Holman was born i Arkansas on O8 June 1955. l-le graduated from High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia and attended ed States Naval Academy, graduating in 1978 Oceanography. His first tour of duty was in QPG-921, serving as Engineering Officer. in June of split-toured to the USS HARRY E. YARNELL as Missile Officer and later the DCA. He next received orders to COMMANDER SPECIAL UNIT TWENTY in Little Creek, Virginia, reporting aboard January 1983, serving as Weapons Officer, Operations and OIC of both 35' SEAFOX, and 65' MK lll Patroi Boat Divi sions. After completing public schools there, he attended North Carolina A8rT State University and graduated in 1973. Commander Bookert entered the Navy through the Officer Candidate School Program in August 1974. Upon graduation from OCS, Commander Bookert was assigned to the Surface Warfare Officer Division Officer Course and subsequently to the Commu- nications Officer's School in Newport, Rhode island. Commander Bookert reported to his first fleet assignment as communications Officer in USS TRUETT QFF 10951 in March of 1976. ln October of 1978, Commander Bookert was transferred to the staff of Com- mander Destroyer Squadron TVVENTY FOUR as the Staff Communications Officer. I Commander Booked received orders to the Naval Recruiting District, Atianta, Georgia and reported in November of 1979. i-lisprt mary duties were Enlisted Programs Officer and Officer Programs Recruiter. ln January of 1982, Commander Bookert was tranS- ferreoi to the Department Head School in Newport, Rhode island. Upon compietion of Department Head School, Commander BOOK' ert was assigned to the USS JOSEPH HEWES QFF 10783 as Weapons Officer. in April of 1984, Commander Bookert was assigned to US9i:3.A MOURE COUNTY QLST 1194i as Operations Officer. Commander Bookert served in LA MOURE COUNTY until Febru- ary . ln February of 1986, he received orders to attend the Naval War College where he completed the one year in residence Com' mand and Staff Course. Commander Bookert earned a Master of Arts Degree in Strategic Studies and Politicai Affairs from the Naval War Coilege. l-le also earned a Master of Science Degree in Management from Salve Regina College of Newport, P11069 Island, white attending the Naval War College. Commander Bookert reported tothe USS BLAKELY fl-'F 1072i in June 1987, where he assumed duties as Executive Officer. H6 served in BLAKELY untii January 1989 when he received orders tothe Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk Virginia for the tive month Joint Professional Miiitary Education Course. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the United States Special Operativfl Command, Macdili Air Force Base.
