Jrarian, designed the Book Club to promote interest in reading, discuss ontemporary literature, develop evaluation skills and enable students to ecome involved, discriminating readers. She was very pleased with the iitial response and enthusiasm. nder the direction of President Kiki Mclntyre the club met every first and tird Friday during lunch in the library. The club members participated in a ook buying shopping spree to select books for the library. he formation of the club helped generate student interest in new and iverse areas. eft to right - John Lim, Eric Manchester, Mrs. Middleton, Russell McCarran, Jay Wung. S.A.D.D. .A.D.D. was started by Laura Drogin, President, Gail Phillips, Vice resident, and Ali Tehrani, SecretaryfTreasurer, in order to help form students about the dangers of drinking and driving. The lub has over forty members. Because this is the first year for the lub it has primarily spent a lot of time organizing itself and etting ideas and things started in order to be a really active lub next year. The club is posing in front of a tree that was edicated to Javier Sustaeta, who was killed at the end of last fear in just such an accident. X Math Club The goal of The new Math Club was to actively involve students in the mathematical community, The members were challenged and stimulated by intriguing discussions, exams and competitions. The eleven members met every week on Wednesday during lunch in Room 201 to prepare for upcoming math competitions such as the Ameri- can High School Math Exam on February 17 and the SDSU Senior High Math Field Day Competition on March 1. The club competed with other schools public and private such as Gompers and Bishops ln all the Math Club had no time to party according to president Lynn Wung.
