This year's club officers ncluded President Justin Traxler, V.P. Chris Trichel, and secretary-Treasurer Alex Falk. Tsutomu Hatsuzawa, Alex Falk, Josh Blumenthal, Jon Zif- ferblatt, Jenny Coleman. Missing: Steve Haase, Nannie Hatch, Mr. Hatch. ot many people had a chance to see Hal- ley's Comet from Laguna Mountain, but the eight members of the Outing Club, led by Sinclair Hatch, experienced this and other wilder- ness delights. Josh Blumenthal, President, and Nan- nie Hatch, Vice President, organized weekend trips to Joshua Tree National Monument and the San Bernardino Mountains and tried to find ancient pe- troglyphs near the San Luis Rey River. However, the purpose of these excursions was a little more than just to have fun and to see nature, the members learned how to cope with unpredictable weather and strenuous hikes!! Outing Clu 39

The club's fourteen members got plenty of chances to do this at many events including the S.D.S.U. three day Model U.N. conference in late February and the Oceanview conference on April 20. The group also participated at in-school debates with Bishop's and Claremont. The club met every other Monday to strengthen its debating skills. Sophomore Albert Wei served as the club's president. Other club officers included Vice-President Jill Daniels, Treasurer Simon Malk, and Secretary Mike Lewis, Many new members brought new ideas to the club this year. Summing up the events of the year, Jodi Feinsteir expressed her views on her experience in the club, lt's been hard work, but it was well worth it. 1 A AA IViVA ,J 5 with Mike Lewis.
