Having fun, celebrating French holidays Qlike Mardi Gras. Fete de Noel, and May Dayj, tasting French food, seeing French films, and enjoying the cultural change are a few of the joys one encounters as a member. At each meeting Jon Zifferblatt, Treasurer, entertains the club with trivia questions, and occasionally, members will play a competitive game of Mille Bournes. Competition is big in this club. On La Fete des Rois, two students, Jennifer Martin and Ankist Zadeyan, were crowned king and queen for the day. Our club is socially-oriented, and we enjoy experiencing a culture other than our own, says Rachel Friedman, President. The cultural aspects of a language is what Spanish Club is all about! . . . like going to the cultural arts in Tijuana, agrees active member, Brad Moores. Kristin Kucha, President, and club officers, Jay Vu, Secretary, and Lynn Wung, Treasurer, organize and take part in these activities. Not only are these activities beneficial to themselves and their Spanish education but also to others outside of their club circle. '.-'-I'-.sri-'sam Mrs, Davis, co-advisor of Model U.N. with Mr. Hatch, spoke of the reason for the club's existence, We wish to heighten student awareness of world affairs such as apartheid, nuclear issues, and migrations, to encourage cultur- Model U.N. members share some food, laughs, ond opinions during a Noah Rosenkrantz argues world politics pre-conference debate. t , Q odel U.N. al empathy, and to strengthen public speaking skills. The club's fourteen members got plenty of chances to do this at many events including the S.D.S.U. three day Model U.N. conference in late February and the Oceanview conference on April 20. The group also participated at in-school debates with Bishop's and Claremont. The club met every other Monday to strengthen its debating skills. Sophomore Albert Wei served as the club's president. Other club officers included Vice-President Jill Daniels, Treasurer Simon Malk, and Secretary Mike Lewis, Many new members brought new ideas to the club this year. Summing up the events of the year, Jodi Feinsteir expressed her views on her experience in the club, lt's been hard work, but it was well worth it. 1 A AA IViVA ,J 5 with Mike Lewis.
