Marylin Sarlin joined The Lower School communiTy as a Teacher's aide for TirsT and second grades, and afTer a year in WashingTon DC., Mrs. Rogers came back To insTrucT The firsT grade. GrandparenTs' Day was made special wiTh The help of The Lower School faculTy. Mrs. YouTkus was re- sponsible for coordinaTing a musical program which The sTudenTs presenTed To Their grandparenTs on The special day, The Teachers of The Lower School helped Their sTudenTs prepare arTwork and books To show Their grandparenTs when They visiTed The var- ious classrooms. Field Trips were designed by Teachers To correlaTe wiTh The subjecTs of sTudy, For example, The fourTh graders, under The leadership of Mr. Goodwin, were beTTer able To undersTand San Diego hisTory when They visiTed siTes such as The San Diego Mission, The Cabrillo LighThouse and The San Diego LighThouse, During Their secTion on heaITh, The Third graders wenT To The Good EarTh l?esTauranT To dine on naTu- ral foods. A new perspecTive was given To The sTudy of maTh- emaTics by The Teachers of preschool Through The second grade, MaTh Their Way. This proiecT-ori- enTed sTudy of maThemaTics enabled sTudenTs To apply maTh To everyday siTuaTions.
