Man has spent many centuries in the exploration
of color, and its useful application to human behavior.
Although he has not begun to understand it, several
things have been discovered that have much bearing
on the lives of all mankind.
In centuries past, color and light were woven into
the pattern of life, for they were believed to be divine
forces necessary to every man's existance. They have
always been viewed with awe, because man has never
been able to understand either of them.
Today, even though man has discovered much
about color, the comman man is still unable to grasp
the full scope of color. He surrounds himself with it,
and Nature constantly envelopes us in it, but we re-
main unconcious of it as a true expression of Nature.
Because we are constantly aware of color in our life,
and because we cannot exist without it in our environ-
ment, the 1962 HIELAND staff has chosen color as
