Reed, M. Mclnffe, Nl. I-GCGVI C- Andefson' ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB Environmental Club was one of the newer clubs on campus this year. Organized at the end of school last year by Mr. John- ston, the clubs main objective was to make known the environ- mental problems of our society. They planned to do this by having authorities speak at their meetings on local problems, and by sponsoring events to teach good environmental practices. X I 'tix Paula Livingston, Key Club Svveetheart, asks Santa to be good to all children. il 'Huh BJ.. I!-'Gi KEY CLUB Key Club w a s well known around Kofa for its service to the school and community. Key Club had the honor of escorting p e o p I e into Snyder Auditorium for the presentation of the Senior Class Play. For Thanksgiving the Key Club made a fruit basket for the oldsters at Desert M a n o r. They also supported a girl in Viet Nam. As their money maker for the year the Keysters sold popcorn, peanuts and tacos at all home games. For athletic enjoyment the boys had the annual basket- ball game against Yuma High School's Key Club. Paula Livingston reigned as Key Club sweetheart. They held a breakfast in honor of their girl and honored her with a Key Club jacket and bracelet. Key club rounded out the year with a spring banquet. Fredricks B. Galland, D. lllis. CHESS CLUB Any student having a grade average of 2.5 and interested in chess may send in a letter of ap- plication to the club. The Chess Club had many activities, some of which were car washes, bake sales, a Halloween-Awards Ban- quet, and two conventions in Phoenix and Tucson. The club also attended their first state invitational tournament and won the first annual Yuma-Kofa Chess tournament. SCIENCE CLUB Science Club was an organiza- tion formed to promote a better understanding of the sciences. The Science C l u b sponsored many activities which pertained to different fields of science. They co-sponsored an annual dance with Quill and Scroll as one of t h e i r money-making projects. Some of their other projects included, bringing in guest speakers to talk on subjects such as Light, Atomic Energy, Astronomy, Optical Functions, and Astrology. Night meetings were held to offer the use of their famed telescopes to the interested people of the commu- nity. They also produced a movie for use at the lVlardi Gras, and obtained charts to be used by the school. They also sponsored an annual trip to Kitt Peak National Observatory outside of Tucson, Arizona.
