Kodiak's runners finished as follows: Dan Watkins 3rd, Carroll Pope 4th, Velton Phillips 7thg Brad Madjic 9thg Gus Morton 23rdg Duncan Fields and john Hartman followed. As champions the 7-man squad is elgible for white sweaters, the highest distinction of a champion ! All in all, Coach Marvin Frost, along with the students and faculty of K. H. S. , was satisfied with the outcome of the cross country season. Everyone worked hard and stuck it out. That's what it takes to be champions. Other members of the cross country team that did not make state but de- serve recognition are Gary Boskofsl-cy, Joe Dinnocenzo, James Gregory, Charlie Reed, john Fontaine, Tom Dinnocenzo, and Don Valen. Congratulations again to the champion K. H. S. Cross Country team! Let's have another one next year! Cross Country CROSS COUNTRY TEAM CO-CHAMPIONS On Thursday, October 6th, the Kodiak cross country squad departed for Palmer where the state meet was to be held on the following day. The squad consisted of returning lettermen Carroll Pope, Velton Phillips and Dan Watkins out last year for elgibility reasons, and strong contender Brad Madjic, Gus Morton, Duncan Fields, and John Hartman. Coach Marvin Frost and Athletic Director Joe Floyd accompanied the team. When the team arrived in Palmer the same usual weather faced them that has for some time-mixed rain and snow. The next day the weather was the same but the race had to go on. However, weather never dampened the spirit harriers and at the end of the 2 118 mile race Qrun in a golf course near Palmerj they had tied Palmer for the Championship with four runners in the top ten. 120
