Gold staffs for a peruod of four years Each year accordrng to Mass Vanzee br ngs n w truends and experaences In addition each dufferent staff has orngunal deas and plans so that the paper has no repetltlcn Mass Van zee majored In English at Central College and also attended the Unlversnty of Wisconsin In the summer Flrst semester lournallsm students fmally became the Black 81 Gold staff at the begun ning of the second semester The students showlng the most abllrty In the art of news paper work were selected for certaln duties on the staff After studying dllngently the first semester on what the date lane ns the dlfferent head lanes and how to wrute an edltorlal there was nothing left for the staff to ask when they started work on the paper except a few ques tions llke where does the date llne go wh ch hea lnne shall l use or ns thus an edltorlal But all klddlng aside the staff dxd work hard and their work was appreciated The staffs mann purpose ln lssuung a paper ns to gnve those people Interested In yournalrsm as a career a chance to learn a few funda mentals and also to provide lnterestmg news to the student body as a whole . Y-Teens Does anyone have any udeas how to make money? That phrase got practucally more work out thus year than The meetung wull come to order Funally after the tureless effort of the members the treasury uncreased from 75 cents to Sl54 Such thungs as candy sales bake sales work week where the gurls dud odd jobs and gave half of theur earnungs to the organuzatuon sellung at basket ball games and sellung homecomung badges were the ways the club made uts money The true meanung of Y Teens was not lost un all thus work Every meetung there was a worshup servuce and the m mbers w re always th nkung of udeas howto help others Some such projects were sendung candy bars money and clothung to needy chuldren overseas One of the outstandung programs presented was the Sprung Style Show school gurls lt has been such a success thc last two years that ut was de cuded to make ut an annual affaur ln the muddle of Aprul the Mother and Daughter banquet was held Thus year the theme was a delughtful Japanese Garden Much hard work was put unto producung the banquet but everyone agreed that ut was worth ut as ut turned out to be one of the nucest ones ver g ven After the rush of the banqueu t e club ettled down to enjoy the last few meetungs of the year Standing Peggy Adams Vucc Prcsuclcnt Kathy Osborn Pres dent Pat Co man Secretary Seated Louusc Ver Steeg Treasurer 30 Five ofthe clothing stores downtown modeled their clothes on ten pretty high '- ls f- '
