Gold staffs for a peruod of four years Each year accordrng to Mass Vanzee br ngs n w truends and experaences In addition each dufferent staff has orngunal deas and plans so that the paper has no repetltlcn Mass Van zee majored In English at Central College and also attended the Unlversnty of Wisconsin In the summer Flrst semester lournallsm students fmally became the Black 81 Gold staff at the begun ning of the second semester The students showlng the most abllrty In the art of news paper work were selected for certaln duties on the staff After studying dllngently the first semester on what the date lane ns the dlfferent head lanes and how to wrute an edltorlal there was nothing left for the staff to ask when they started work on the paper except a few ques tions llke where does the date llne go wh ch hea lnne shall l use or ns thus an edltorlal But all klddlng aside the staff dxd work hard and their work was appreciated The staffs mann purpose ln lssuung a paper ns to gnve those people Interested In yournalrsm as a career a chance to learn a few funda mentals and also to provide lnterestmg news to the student body as a whole . worked hard enough on ut Now we have to go tear ut down A week to put ut together and only an hour to tear ut dawn OI w ll that s e 7 I5 P M It s tume for the presentatuon of the queen and her attendants to the crowd at the football staduum Hope everythung goes off on schedule 7 30 P M Kuck off tum I Thus should b a wonderful gam Our opponents are the toughest un the conference but thus us our Homecom ng so we have to wun IO OO P M Well we can t w n them all Guess I ll go to the dance and forget about ut The senuor gurls are sp nsorung the Hom com ung and guvung the proceeds to the K We sure can use the money October 27 A battle wuth the stand and a wld hunt all over town for someone who could hook up the tryung to get food to the cr wd at tne football game Vufe sold e ghteen dozen hot dogs and IO cases of pop Durung the game we had to go up tow'1 and beg the stores for all the candy bars they had November 'I One bug job done' All contracts are sugned and deadlunes set It us goung to be hard to get all our puctures and copy un on tume But the book us goung to be out earluer thus year we hope' November 10 Boy am I tured The whole staff went to Des Mounes today We went all through the pruntung and cover companues I don t know how anyon could unvent such complucated machunes that can turn out a book wuth luttle more than pushung a button or so ut seems December 'I3 Thus was a day I ll never forget Why do you always leave everythung to the last mun ute? We thought we had all the work done but when w got ready to decorate for the Snow Ball B unce there were a mulluon thungs to do Just as the furst guest arruved we put the last buts of angel haur on the Chrustmas tree Then we all ran home to change to our party clothes It was such a bug success I guess ut was worth all the work January 31 lt s too late now' Today was the last day you could buy a yearbook I lust got mune un tume I was so busy chasung everybody else forgot to buy one for myself February 3 Yo yo sl Candy bars' Pop' I ll be yell ng that un my sleep before thus week us over Sec tuonal tournament tume I know there must be an easuer way to make money Aprll 20 Boy' That was close Just made the prunt er s deadlune Now we can relax Just a few luttle thungs left to do Maybe we can make a few plans for next year I hope everybody us satusfued when they see the book It has been a lot of work but ut has been gust as much fun WHOOPS' DIDNT NEED Tl-IAT Tl-IUMB ANYWAY HERE MYRT, LET ME DO IT' 8 30 MOUNTIN' TIME l ' . 1 e , I ' ' ' Iif .
