I asked Well she got marrred and put her nurse s trarn rng to good use She now has four sets of trrplets th w orld s record Remember Malcolm Hrll7 He rs rust comrng rn the entrance at the left Do you recall how Malcolm hated bookkeeprng but when Uncle Sam grabbed hrm hc made an excellent bookkeeper for the army He once remarked to someone that rt was lots easrer than rt was at Knox because rt doesn t matter to anyone rf the books don t balance Our attenron was next centered rn front of the magazrne counter for there was Esther Prlbeam lookrnf over the new est rssues We assumed that Esther would also attend the Lrbrarran s Conventron whrle rn Syracuse It was nrce for us to thrnk that Esther for several years had been the very efficrent lrbrarran at Knox Memorral jrm Smrth as we mrght have eypected qurckly spotted the Coffee Shop as he entered and made hrs acquarntance wrth two or three wartresses We well re called thrs achrevement rn jrm s past years how he could so readrly obtarn the grrls attentron Botherrng folks w as always an rnterestrng hobby for jrm He hasnt chang ed I remarked because he rs now a Collector of In ternal Revenue and as such rs certarnly a pest to every one Vrvran Fulton now berng escorted to her room hasnt changed much has shf-9' I asked No was thc reply and drd you know that Vryran desrgned a new drawstrrng bathrng surt9 I am rnformed that she rn tends to wear rt rn the All Amerrcan Beauty Contest I hope shes wrns Trme w as raprdly passrng and as the later after noon came PFC Heman Matthew s rushed mto the lobby A newspaper account some months ago had gryen m the news that Heman had jorncd the paratroopers and obtarned a patent on a parachute w hrch wrll take hrm back to the plane after he starts down Thats rn case he doesn t lrke appearances below Heman we recalled frequently changed hrs mrnd We w ere also surprrsed and I:-leased to note arrrv rng perhaps the quretest member of therr class Vrvrar Blackmer who had also made a great sacrrfrce to come to the reunron from the mrcl west Vrvran has spent much of her trme rn solrtrtude wrth a talented black cat on a yacht on the Mrssrssrppr Now rt was nearrng the hour for the reunron to start and the rest of our schoolmates were rushrng rn to take up therr reseryatrons More rn Uncle Sam s unrforms were nevt seen There was that handsome Senror of ten years ago Gene Whrteford wearrng the smart unrform of the U S Marrnes Wle had heard that Gene rs a fam ous prlot rn the off trmes when he rsnt on K P or wrth hrs w rfe w ho was a member of the class of 53 Eva Chase rs also a prlot rn the Arr Force For years she has featured rn many transcontrnental Hrghts wrth her attentron keenly focused on all of the good lookrng prlots Eva appears to us as trrm as ever as she hurrres to the elevator Joyce Rrder rs accompanyrng her We now recall how Joyce always had an eye for the sarlors She lrves wrth her sarlor husband at a naval base and teaches a course to young brrdes on How to Make .1 Husband Out of a Sarlor Barbara Colton and Anna Kelly are the last of th class to arrrve When I notrced Barbara I remarked that she rs telephone operator rn a New England sanrtorrum and I wondered rf calls from men especrally could ever get through rn that localrty because Barbara always be lreved rn gettrng acquarnted wrth callers Y s rt rs true our conversatron contrnued that Anna Kelly marrred a mrllronarre and spends most of her trme spendrng hrs money The rest of the trme she dances for the fun of rt Do you suppose she wrll grve us an ex hrbrtron dance tonrght7 But trme w as flyrng and we strll had to dress for the banquet At thrs pornt we were sure that we could look ahead to an enyoyable evenrng wrth the class of 52 Already rdeas were buzzrng rn our heads about how we mrght handle our newspaper assrgnment of coverrng thc banquet We were sure that rt would be a successful new S story Nadrne LaFounta1n Helen Barry WELL LOVED TRADITION From 1808 to 1952 srx wars have called men to the colors to defend our country agarnst aggressron ln thc mryorrty of these wars Russell has been represented and so rt rs that onc of our w cll loved tradrtrons takes plac rn Max on Memorral Day to honor those who have defended our country Srmple rn form but srgnficant '1 meanrng the scrvrce finds the student body each year paracirng hehrnd our marchrng band and assemblrng on the school lawn Followrng the flag decoratron ceremony rn th small ce netery nearby the student body lrstens to the Gettysburg Address delrvered by a student ann to an address by a guest speaker When the echoes of taps floats oxer the quret scene each rs conscrous of a debt we owe to so many Well always r member' . . , , V V . . , , . , . . , c , K - V. , . , , . . .
