Christmas Program Christmas Around the World was the theme of this year's Christmas program given in the high school gymnasium on Dec¬ ember 21. This story-type presentation was directed by Mr. Bolton, music instructor, and nar¬ rated by Phyllis Moss and Erik Jonsson. Carl Salo sang a solo and three of Knappa's pepsters, Dolla Minkoff, Christine Stewart and Patty Moore, presented an orig¬ inal dance routine. Honor Society Installation The installation ceremony of the National Honor Society took place on the evening of December 6 in the high school library. President Heikki Ylipilto welcomed the initiates, parents and guests. Guest speaker, Mr. Richard Knotts, Warrenton schools superintendent, spoke on the theme, You are Chosen . Installed were: Christine Forney, Kristina Niemelin, Laura Erickson, sen¬ iors; juniors: Christine Stewart, Julia Lanning, Mary Korhonen, Steve Gert- tula, Phyllis Moss, Diane Johnson, Janet Johnson, Wayne Knudson, and Neil Hummasti. Speeches on character, leadership, scholarship and service were given, the exemplification candles were lit, and new members signed the membership roll. Refreshments were served by the Knappa P. T. A group from Longview, the Impacts, provided the music. Chaperones were Mr. and Mrs. Francis Bagley, and Mr. and Mrs. Archie George. 21

Clayton-Captain; S. Tygart. Thea Dybvik, captain, h appily accepts the girls’ basketball championship trophy. Winning the Sunset Empire championship trophy in a two-day tournament at Seaside was the climax of a highly successful season for the Knappa Loggerettes. Ending the season with a 10-1 record, the girls posted wins over Astoria, Seaside, Clatskanie, Jewell, Tillamook, and Ver- nonia. Their only defeat came in mid¬ season at the hands of Warren ton. The JVs also had a good season, taking second place at the Seaside tourney, and ending with an 8-2 record. Wins came from Astoria, Seaside, Clatskanie, Jewell, Tilla¬ mook, and Warrenton; losses from Warrenton and Vernonia. 23
