Something new that was tried by the 37 members of the Good Sportsmanship League was a successful distribution of tokens of goodwill for each varsity sport. Some of the items the teams received were cookies, cupcakes or special posters, We did it because we appreciate them as much as we do the varsity football team, commented member Keri Fisher, sophomore. GSL is a club designed to promote school spirit and sportsmanship not only within KF but also between KF and other schools, said sponsor Diane Graff, explaining what GSL's main goal was. The sale of spirit ribbons promoted enthusiasm within KF and the exchange of gifts during halftime was a positive way, according to Graff, to promote good sportsmanship and friendships between KF and other schools. The 1983 Fall Conference on October 6 was hosted by KF this year and was a big success. Phil Garner, Houston Astro infielder, was the guest speaker and a big hit! GSL members from other schools in our district attended the All-American Event which also included a film and a catered lunch. The GSL meetings took place once a week during football season and twice a month afterwards. All of the meetings made a successful year possible, said Graff. C1 flj The Klein Forest Chapter of GSL members walk arm-in-arm with Aldine's GSL at a Friday night game, C23 Junior Gina Persyn and senior Leigh Lowe help sell homecoming ribbons for a fund-raiser. C31 Cheerleaders, such as Keri Fisher, helped out with this year's GSL. 145 Eagle mascot De-Ann Erwin, Dave Griffith, Sandy Van deWa1le and Andy Ralston stroll over to the opposing side of the field. 216 ORGANIZATIONS i QL ,K V l . 3
