Besides approximately 40 Future Farmers of America members, these 'tools of the trade' would mean probably nothing to the average Klein Forest student. Future Farmers of America is a national organization providing op- portunities for students enrolled in agriculture programs to develop abilities in leadership, scholarship, citizenship, and cooperation. It is an organization that gives the student the opportunity to advance in many levels of degrees and awards. These degrees and awards produce sportsmanship, agricultural abilities and leadership skills in judging and parliamentary procedure. Beginning students got through a ritual called the greenhand , a ceremony which involves wearing a large green hand on the front of their shirts the day of initiation, according to Kim Hurst, senior, and instructor Brenda Christian discuss math exercises. 112 FACULTYXSTAFF lung

Answering the telephone is only one of the many tasks of associate principal secretary Margaret Chickering. sophomore Natalie Hays. The various 'tools of the trade' come in handy very often. Each student is required to feed and keep some type of livestock for the duration of the school year. The student owns the animal and must groom and care for it as well. If the animals are taken good care of, they might get a chance to compete in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Concerning his feelings about his teacher, sophomore john Gillespie replied, Mrs. Harrington is one of the best FFA teachers to come to KF in a long time. Due to her punctuality and hard-working habits, the outlook for the future of the FFA looks very good. Each and every student that enrolls in this class will emerge at the end of the year thoroughly educated in the field of agriculture and farming techniques, Mrs. Harrington concluded. aq ,A Gary Burgess Dean Cannavan Sharon Carol Nancy Cashiola Woodshop Chemistry I English II Science Margaret Chickering Brenda Christian Cherie Clark Verna Clark Secretary Computer Math Principals Secretary English II FACULTY I STAFF 1 13
