AMERICAN FIELD SERVICE lnitiating its fifth year in the American Field Service program, Kirkwood welcomed 1967-68 ex- change student Yolanda Diaz. Judy arrived from her home in San Miguel de Tucuman, Argentina, in August and became part of the family of senior Diane Congdon during her stay of a year. Judy spent much of her time sharing impressions and ex- periences with various groups through numerous speaking engagements. Americans Abroad, a phase of the AFS program, offered Kirkwood students an opportunity for study in a foreign country. A committee comprised of adult advisors of the Kirkwood chapter chose jun- iors Nancy Lewis and Sue Tifft as semifinalist can- didates for either the 1968-69 school season or sum- mer tour. In support of the entire program, AFS com- mittee chairman, Nancy Lewis, launched a fund- raising drive in January of this year. Displaying their enthusiasm for the continuation of the pro- gram, students and faculty rallied to achieve and surpass a goal of 311,500 through the sale of shares.
