HOME I 959 The Homecoming cele- bration of 1958 began with a snake dance and a bonfire at the football field on Thursday, September 25, with refresh- ments being furnished by the Lions Club. The next day, September 26, a parade, including floats from each class on the theme of Space Age and the marcing band, celebrated the event. After the parade, a pep rally was held in the gym where prizes were awarded for the best floats and class skits. The cheerleaders led a few John Simmons, Sharon Zang. peppy yells and the pep band played. The coaches introduced their football squad and encouraged every- one to attend the game that night. The setting for the crowning of the King and Queen was ascending steps to an archway beautifully decorated in red and white. The remainder of the gym was decorated with the motif of the theme. The crowning ofthe King and Queen was a breathless moment. The coronation of John Simmons and Sharon Zang and the presentation of Iva Kay Lindberg, Larry Smith Sandra Nelson, Fred Crandall, Merrillyn Ross, and Joe Henry as their attendants was performed by our principal, Mr. Johnson. Clinton .i Conway Y i Eighty-five members and guests of the Kirkwood F.F.A. Chapter enjoyed the Chapter's Annual Banquet which was held at the Westminster Church on December ll at 6:30 P.M. The dinner meeting was opened with the Chapter's ritual response by the various officers. It was announced that the Chapter, in appreciation of Howard Bryant's interest and cooperation, had voted him an honorary membership which was presented in absentia at the banquet. Charles Doubet, Williamsfield, Sectional Vice President, was introduced by Fred Crandall, Chapter Presi- dent, A varied program followed consisting of a film history of last summer's F,F,A, Convention, colored slides of the individual members' projects, and comments from Mr. Convention Delegates--Bruce Wolf, Fred Jenks Convention Chorus Members--Jim Fell, Jim Johnson, Bob Fullerton appropriate remarks from the main speaker of the evening, Harold Walker, of the Farm Loan Department of the First Galesburg National Bank dc Trust Company.
