I gxlfff my We iw- fobn B. Ken nedy SUPERINTENDENT Mr. John B. Kennedy has been chief executive at Kingston High School for the past sixteen years. He is a native of Landisburg, Penn- sylvania where he attended a one-room country schoolhouse for twelve years. Upon taking an examination, he was awarded a scholarship to study at Millersville Normal School from which he graduated in 1913. After nine years of serving within the public schools of Elmira and Carlisle, he received a Ph.B. degree from Dickinson College. Re-enter- ing the teaching profession he was elected principal and finally super- intendent of Columbia Iligh School. In l94Q he became superintend- ent. of the Kingston School District. During this time he received his M.A. degree from Bucknell University. Wlith a change in the senior class next year there will be a change in the school superintendent. Nr. Kennedy has decided to retire from School Baum' The year 1957 was the centennial anniversary of the Kingston Bor- ough School Board. As the type of government. in our community changed from township to borough in December 1857, a School Board was elected under the laws dealing with school management. Down through the ages the men on the School Board have been the guiding light for this school district. The members of the present School Board must concern themselves with a great variety of tasks. They must take their places on a few of eight various committees.
