MR. ANTHONY HOCK One of the most efficient and helpful organizations in Kings- ton High School is the GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT. Mr. Iohn L. Bennett. who capably heads this department, helps to prepare students for their future life. His patience and his friendliness are a great asset to this comparatively new organization. Each class from the Freshman to the Seniors has its guidance counselor. Miss Helen Devendorf, a most competent advisor, has done much to aid in the success of the Senior Class. Miss Kath- erine Cronin is untiring in her efforts to make the present Iuniors succeed. A sincere and efficient guide is Miss Hannah Iayne, the counselor of the Sophomore Class. The adviser for the Freshman Class is Miss Anita Williams, who is also our Dean of Women. Also assisting the Guidance Department are Mr. David jones, who prepares and arranges the homeroom program and Mr. An- thony Hock, school psychologist, who administers most of the tests the students take for guidance. Each year the GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT holds a number of social events designed to benefit the students. In addition to having the annual Christmas Tea for the College Prepatory stu- dents, the GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT has this year included a tea for the Commercial students. These social gatherings in the form of a discussion between students and alumni acquaint the students with the different aspects of life after graduation. One of the most important events of the year is Career Day. On this day the students are afforded invaluable benefits by con- versing with persons who have been successful in numerous oc- cupations. This service is not only rendered to Kingston High School students but also to the students of surrounding high schools. The Class of '53 is very grateful to our Guidance Department for the advice and assistance in preparing us for the road ahead. Mr. Bennett, the capable director of the Guidance De- partment, is always ready and willing to advise each stu- dent to the best of his ability. Mr. Bennett helps us by showing interesting and educa- tional movies, by preparing students for college, by giving aptitude tests and suggesting courses, and by sponsoring Career Day. Because of the help Mr. Bennett and the Guidance De- partment give to every student, you can see why they are liked by all. They deserve much praise for what they do. MR. WILLIAM IVESON Director of Activities Perhaps one of the best known directors of our produc- tion is Mr. William Iveson, our Director of Activities. Whether you find him rushing through the halls in search of almost anything or busily working in that madhouse which he calls an office, he always has a smile and a help- ing hand for anyone in need. Along with his other numerous duties, Mr. Iveson has greatly assisted our Class of '53 in planning and under- taking various projects which have enabled us to raise money for our class trip. We should like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Iveson for all his helpfulness and express our sincere ad- miration for the splendid job which he has done. MISS ANITA WILLIAMS Dean of Women This year, Miss Anita Williams has once again very capably filled her responsible position as Dean of Women. Her success in this field has been largely due to her under- standing and sympathetic advice in solving all the girls' problems. Along with this, Miss Williams is a member of the Guidance Department and head of the English Department. As one of her duties, she also prepares our mid-year and final examinations in English. We, the Class of '53,', are very grateful to Miss Williams for her fine guidance and wish her success and happiness in her future years at Kingston High School. MR. JAMES JONES Dean of Men The position of Dean of Men of Kingston High School is capably filled by Mr. Iames Iones. It is his duty to administer advice to the boys in regard to any problem with which they might be faced. He also fulfills many other duties among which are participation in the manage- ment of various sports, supervision of the scheduling of classes, consultation of references to colleges, and direction of the history department. We feel honored to have such an able man in this job.
