THEME ln accordance with our National Defense Pro- gram, and with the world-wide emphasis placed on aviation in the modern trend of warfare, the Kingstonian Annual Staff thought it ap- propriate to choose as its theme, The Progress Made in the Field of Aviation. The reader fi?-' I will observe along the bottoms of several of the ksmm pugcs, that we have taken the opportunity to 15 '. 5 3. portray the development of the plane from 71 - -l,g-if ' 'M the first flimsy craft of the Wright Brothers a l to the modern up-to-date Douglas Sky Queen- this evolution having taken place over a short period of years. The transformation which has occurred in the , held of aviation has also taken place in our ,Wynn-M ,M,,,,Nxf-hm f school life under the competent and guiding ff-- 'yi hands of our teachers. The hazards that have f' been overcome in the field of aviation, however, seem small and insignihcant as compared to f' those that the graduating class are about to gi 4 face as we set forth on thc journey of life. if if Into our hands, as well as the hands of seniors the world over, fall the problems and per- plexities of present day life. Into our hands are placed the hope and future of all the peoples. Let us recognize our responsibility and re- member the words of Cervantes, Fortune turns round like a mill-wheel, and he who was yesterday at the top, today lies on the bottom. ,,,,,........... Through the stately portals of Kingston High School have passed thousands of young men and women. ln this, our beloved school, they studied and played, and when their high school days came to an end they passed, not without regret, into a world which found them well prepared to meet its problems and difficulties. Kingston High School has produced successful classes in the past and will continue to do so in the future. Kingston students have the best of opportunities to make good: competent and wellf trained teachers, the finest of equipment in our laboratories and gymnasiums, the facilities for excellent training in art and home economies and a beautiful auditorium with good stage equipment Uur library compares favorably with the best that there is, anywhere. The class of nineteen hundred and forty-one is well aware of the fact that things were not always the way they are now. We have come a long way from the little red school house of i859 to the fine edihce of the present day. The progress we have made is due largely to the abilities of the fine men who have been behind Kingston Schools from then to now, lt has taken careful planning and co-operation to achieve our present day stand- ards. But the difficulties were overcome one by one and the result is something every Kingstonian has a right to be proud of. The Class of '4l is proud of it and as we look back on the doors we leave, we feel that the many hours we have labored have been hours well spent. Ili ll I ll I ll
